Sinhala Bloggers Union Presents : Sinhala Blog Marathon 2008!

| Comments

Okay folks, it’s showtime :-D

Yesterday, Sinhala Bloggers Union moved into their own, and newly built online dwelling. What a fabulous and exciting place! And our first public event is going to rock the SL blogosphere pretty soon. Why wait? Join the fun; join the Marathon! Read more about it here [it’s in Sinhala].

Date : 18th of April

Starting time : 8.00 p.m. Sri Lankan time. Ends at 8.00pm the next day.

What are we supposed to do?
Participants have to post a blog entry every 15 minutes for an entire 24 hours, for a total of 96 posts over the course of a single day :-) It’s marathon blogging folks! No mercy :D

Join the marathon.
Go here and enter your Sinhala blog url and other information

Is English allowed?
No. You have to blog in Sinhala :-) Create a separate blog if you want. Do it in Sinhala! That’s the only rule :D

Do we have to be ace bloggers and good writers with 100% Sinhala typing skills?

Nope, not at all. This is a starting point. You don’t have to type long and well organized blog entries. Try one, two three sentences… one para… one poem…one story…. one rant … twitter-like stuff…one post…just like that. 4 posts of your own type per hour. It’s good if you can write long entries. But it’s no big deal if you don’t write long and organized stuff. No one is going to judge you. This is a collective effort. It’s all about having fun.

Why do we do this :

1) For fun

2) To spread Sinhala language blogging

3) To assist those who are willing to start/test Sinhala blogging. We know there are lots of English bloggers visiting our blogs and sometimes wanting to try out the thing in our own language.

4) To create awareness about Sinhala Unicode, the most successful means of producing Sinhala language content online; the future of online Sinhala.

5) To create awareness on the topics ans themes you select to blog about.
